#SheTalksGames Panel at E3 2018

At E3 2018 I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with voice actress Laura Bailey and Blizzard’s Senior Director of Global Community Development Saralynn Smith. We sat down to chat about Facebook’s initiative #SheTalksGames and the diversity gap in game development and representation on screen. Laura discussed her newly announced involvement in Gears 5 and how her character Kait is the first female to lead a game in the Gears of War franchise. Saralynn discussed the incredible female network of players in Overwatch’s community, and how female representation is not just a video games issue.
I really liked how you shared your experience from the #SheTalksGames panel at E3 2018 and the focus on women in game development and voice work. Hearing about Laura Bailey’s role in Gears 5 and the talk about representation made me think back to when I felt lost in a tough semester and used pay someone to take my online nursing class during one week just to clear time for real learning. It made me reflect on how support and focus help us grow in any field.
