The Hobbit’s Third Installment Changes Titles

Director of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films series, Peter Jackson, announced that the last film will be getting a new title.

Previously called The Hobbit: There and Back Again after the book’s true name, he decided to change it to The Battle of the Five Armies. He put up a post on his Facebook page explaining why he decided to make the change saying, “‘There and Back Again’ felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo’s arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with the three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced – after all, Bilbo has already arrived ‘there’ in the ‘Desolation of Smaug.'”

He continued, “We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate. And so: “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” it is.”

If you haven’t read the Hobbit I won’t spoil the last movie for you but the title really tells it all. There are 5 armies, who go to battle, including Goblins, Wargs, Elves, Men, Dwarves, Eagles and of course one little Hobbit. Jackson did also mention that he is working on “The Desolation of Smaug: Extended Cut” which including, “over 25 minutes of new scenes, all scored with original music by Howard Shore.”‘
